Mama Nike - a woman with artistic brush.
Nike Monica Okundaye is a world renowned African female artist who uses richly detailed and arresting batik images to chronicle her society’s contradictory views towards women. To redress some of the social disadvantages faced by women in her part of Africa, she established the Nike Art Foundation – with 4 centers for Arts and Culture across Nigeria, where an apprenticeship model is used to train aspiring artists. This is her commitment to the economic well-being of the center’s artists.
To continue our unique methods of teaching and presenting art in line with our culture.
Run by CHIEF (MRS) NIKE OKUNDAYE, the Nike Art Foundation is a world renowned institution for learning art and craftmanship.
The Nike Art Foundation was opened in the year 1983 in Oshogbo.
The Nike Art Foundation has provided trainings for hundreds of aspiring young artists and craftspeople. At our foundation, master teachers instruct in wood sculpture, relief carving, painting, beadwork, mosaic, batik, adire, applique, pen & ink painting, quilting, drum making and dancing.
